Question from Venkat

Hi Shrinivas and Everyone, This is Venkat. I am really expecting someone would help me with my situation. I saw this Blog and saw many questions Answered, due to which I am posting my query here. Please help me.

I am planning for MS In MIS for Fall 2013. I have started with all the Application Process and other things.

I am from a Middle-Class family. My Family will be investing a lot towards by Studies in USA. Our entire Savings will be used plus we will be taking a loan for my Studies.

I am really tensed because everything has to go properly when I reach USA. My family’s entire money is at stake and I have to come up in USA by getting a good Job and settling there. I understand that if I settle my Family entire money invested will be returned and I will be earning lots and lots. But if I fail to settle then my family’s entire savings will be wiped out. This situation is really giving me nightmares.

I know most students will be in the similar situation. I just wanted to know from all of you and also from Shrinivas, how to handle this stress and tension that’s building up day by day. I really want my parents should be happy and they should feel good. I really love my parents. I don’t want to fail but there’s always the possibility of failing in the US.

I just want to know how to handle this Tension about the Money Invested and about settling in the US. Really expecting Students and Shrinivas to help me please.

Going abroad and studying is an investment. ‘Investment’ can lead to a profit or loss. The student should be in a position to gauge their potential before applying. If you can’t take the pressure in top universities, go to an average one and Ace there. Getting a job takes time, but you mustn’t loose hope. You are supposed to try again and again. And all this is to be done keeping your grades in mind.

Another thing is get a scholarship. This is quite difficult but, if you are a person who really wants to pursue Graduate study for the sake of gaining technical exposure and knowledge, you can get one easily. But if you are thinking that graduate studies is going to be easy as we have lot of time to submit assignments and projects then i must warn you. It is going to be difficult but, you need to maintain he same zeal you had at the beginning of the course, no matter how difficult or boring a subject is.
